Dynamics 365 platform implementation in IE Business School across all the company
The Challenge
In 2018 the international business school IE Business School, begins the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management, completing its path begun with AX 2009 seven years ago and closing the migration strategy to the cloud of their corporate systems made with the implementation of Dynamics 365 for Sales as a CRM solution along with Dynamics 365 Human Resources and Dynamics 365 Commerce.
The Journey
Given the different parts involved in the project, both in the implementation of the ERP, as well as in the different systems in which the ERP had to be integrated, the use of the Microsoft solution suite for project management, including the ALM tool provided by Microsoft called LifeCycleServices together with Azure DevOps, The ad-hoc process library (BPM) for this account, Microsoft Teams with its integrated Sharepoint site and Visual Studio Team Services, was fundamental for the correct development of the project, facilitating the perfect coordination and great comunication between the different teams.
The Arrival
With more than 1,000 users using the system (administrative processes, procurement and travel expenses) and critical factor such as integration with all existing educational systems, both based on Dynamics CRM and custom solutions, hundreds of hours of testing and training were required to ensure the proper functioning of the entire ecosystem. There was also a deadline with the start of the school year, so the project team had to make the switch to production in record time and in a very demanding environment.
CONCLUSION
IE Business School focused all its technological evolution on Microsoft Dynamics, starting the path with AX 2009 and Dynamics CRM and evolving it towards the cloud in all its aspects; Dynamics 365 FO, CE, Power BI, Human Resources and recently including their own stores with Dynamics Commerce. The challenge of integrating all these systems together and creating a single solution has been one of the biggest challenges this team has faced, and of course, within a continuous evolution as legacy systems are replaced by Microsoft Cloud solutions
